Grant Wood

Grant DeVolson Wood (February 13, 1891 – February 12, 1942) was an American painter and representative of Regionalism, best known for his paintings depicting the rural American Midwest. He is particularly well known for American Gothic (1930), which has become an iconic example of early 20th-century American art.

Examples of use of Grant Wood
1. The photo plays off the similarly iconic "American Gothic" painting (Grant Wood, 1'30), which portrays a farmer, holding a pitchfork, and his wife, before a Carpenter Gothic style house.
2. Grant Wood performed in the 2005 inaugural parade and stayed that year at the National 4–H Youth Conference Center, a relatively short drive from downtown, which could have been secured this time with a $1,000 deposit.
3. In its application, the Grant Wood All–City Drum and Bugle Corps of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, noted its status of being from the state that kicked it all off for Obama.
